Performance of IP dust test

IP protection class test against dust ingress

The IP dust tests serve as proof of protection and tightness against the penetration of foreign bodies

IP dust tests are carried out to assess the effect of dust or sand on or in objects. In addition to enclosure tightness, functional testing plays an important role in IP tests.

The IP dust tests provoke various types of failures, such as restriction of movement, wear (erosion) or seizure of mechanical parts or blockages.

The IP protection class code describes the protection of the enclosure against the ingress of foreign bodies. The different types of influence are summarised in IP classes.

Accompanying the IP dust test, AKUVIB also carries out inspections of the test object under the electronic microscope and documents the tightness of the enclosure.
