Performance of IP water test

IP protection class test against water ingress

The tests for water ingress are carried out analogously to the classes IPX1 up to and including high-pressure steam jet test IPX9K

IP protection class testing with water is used to check the resistance to moisture penetration. For this purpose, sprinkling tests, splash tests and tests with jet water are used to determine the tightness of enclosures, capsules or similar units.

However, IP-tests can also be used as a kind of local shock test to subject specific parts to thermal cycling.

In our laboratory we can perform all IP protection class tests for you. In addition, it is possible to spray the test specimen with a wide variety of media during the water test.

Tests:

  • Sprinkling test, dripping water test (IPX1, IPX2)
  • Splash water test (IPX3, IPX4, IPX4K)
  • Jet water test (IPX5, IPX6, IPX6K)
  • Immersion test (IPX7, IPX8)
  • Steam jet test also according to ISO 20653 (IPX9K)
